Surprise Bungled Repair Find

I removed an AW from an old scrap bike to use for my course demonstrations. As I was dismantling it I realised that there was no thrust ring over the clutch. Then I noticed that the clutch was sitting far too high. Somebody had dismantled the hub and reassembled it with the thrust ring underneath the clutch! Also interesting is that the clutch is far older (and better quality) than the rest of the hub. It seems somebody had messed up a clutch change.

It is unusual that this had been opened previously by somebody who didn't understand the hub. Usually people leave these alone unless they know what they are doing.

I have now cleaned and reassembled the hub correctly. It is now ready for my students to practise with.
